The Viracopos CGA (Airport Management Center) started its operations in May 1st. According to Infraero, the new center intends to improve the service to passengers and reduce bureaucracy.
Viracopos is the 13th airport to receive CGA, it has eight 40 inches monitors, which are connected to the flight information system; positioning control of the airplanes in the parking area; takeoff and landing of the airplanes; and electronic security monitoring, besides the communication systems with the telephone extensions, radio equipment, computers and a direct line between the other CGA’s and Nago (Infraero’s Operational Management Center). The CGA’s room has 13 work stations; five of them are reserved to public organs, six of them to the airline companies and two of them to Infraero’s team. The CGA will operate 24 hour a day, including weekends and holidays.
Besides being one of the biggest routes of input and output of loads in the country, Viracopos became one alternative to the Congonhas and Guarulhos Airports congestion. The heavy passenger’s flow exceeded 7million people in 2011 and was one of the reasons for for the CGA.
The group is going to work together to manage the project: Infraero, four airline companies that operate in the airport (Azul, Gol, Tam and Trip), ANAC (National Agency of Civil Aviation), Brazil’s Bureau of International Revenue, federal Police Department, ANVISA (National Agency of Sanitary Surveillance) and VIGIAGRO (Agricultural International Surveillance).
They will meet twice a day to analyze possible events that might interfere on the Airport operational dynamics -such as delays and cancellations- and find strategies and solutions for them.
“The CGA is a collaborative work area between all organizations and companies operating on the airport, it is going to make the operations flow in the most controlled and coordinated way possible, avoiding any impacts on the passengers”, said the Viracopos superintendent, Carlos Alberto Cardoso Alcântra.
The Nago coordinator, Dúnia Alexo complemented saying “The center serves to divide the management of the airport and allow everybody to know what is going to happen during the day service, only by sharing information.”
